Why most icebreakers suck (and how these don't)

• "Fun fact about yourself" punishes introverts and rewards rehearsed answers. We don't do that here.
• Two truths and a lie is fine, but it's a memory test, not a connection. We prefer questions that surface actual opinions.
• Good icebreakers are low stakes to answer but high signal about the person. Specific beats generic. Weird beats safe.
• If everyone laughs once or learns something surprising about one coworker, it worked. That's the bar.
